To follow on from our very successful speed mentoring event last year, we are doing a similar event this year called "Pick a Brain!"

Join us for an awesome opportunity to learn from experienced professionals in a variety of areas of photography; Wedding, Family, Commercial, Landscape, Business Strategy & Personal Projects.

This has been designed to be a fun event, to sit down face-to-face with someone you respect, and ask them any specific questions you have always wanted to know. So be prepared and bring with you specific ideas and questions to ask!

We will have 6 separate tables of speakers, and attendees will have 15 minutes to chat and ask questions at each table. The night will end with an open panel discussion.

Hilary Wardhaugh
Business, Personal Photography Projects and Exhibiting

Hilary is a highly talented and experienced photographer. She has been a part of the AIPP mentoring program for the last few years and is always willing to support and nurture other photographers and their businesses. She is the current ACT AIPP Photographer of the Year for her recent Documentary photography work, but she has been working successfully running her own full-time photography business for the last 20 years, originally specialising in weddings and now more focused on commercial work. Hilary has a passion for personal photography work also, recently winning awards for two of her personal photobooks at APPA's. She truly is an allrounder and can answer any questions covering this vast range of areas relating to photography.

Emily Hanna
Portrait Photography and business

Emily is a passionate photographer whose career started as a fashion photographer for Victoria's Models. She now runs her own successful portrait, family & wedding photography business, esh photography, at the same time as running a household with three young children. Her documentary style of photography is relaxed and focuses on capturing moments. In 2010 she was named AIPP Documentary Photographer of the Year for her series of images of an indigenous community in Arnhem Land. Emily loves sharing her knowledge and expertise to help others and will be happy to answer any questions in relation to how she runs her business or any photography-related questions.

Scott Leggo
Marketing, Business, Running a gallery, Landscape Photography

Scott is an award-winning Landscape photographer who runs a successful photography business and also works as a management consultant to some of the country’s top executives from across Government and the private sector. His speciality is Business Strategy, so will be able to answer any questions you have on how he built his photography business into a self-maintained profitable business as well as how you can improve the success of your own business through improved business strategies.

Kelly Tunney
Wedding Photography, improving your everyday work through awards and Business

Kelly is a creative, award-winning Wedding Photographer who was the first female to win the title of AIPP Australian Wedding Photographer of the Year in 2015 and is the current 2019 AIPP ACT Wedding Photographer of the Year. She has been running a successful business for nearly 15 years shooting weddings locally and internationally. Her success came from thinking outside of the box and doing things differently to what everyone else was doing. She is a big advocate of the awards system which helped push her creatively and stand out from the crowd. Along with all this, she also runs another business with fellow photographer Dan O'Day, All Grown Up Weddings. She is extremely passionate about the business of photography and also offers mentoring for photographers trying to make their way in this increasingly difficult industry.  Kelly will be happy to answer any questions you have in regards to her own experiences in wedding photography and running a business.

Glenn Martin
Astro Photography, websites & SEO

Glenn is an AIPP Accredited Professional Photographer, and specialises in Landscape and Astro Photography. Last year in the 2018 AIPP APPA awards Glenn was a finalist for Australian Emerging Photographer of the Year.
After many years as an enthusiast, Glenn concentrated on photography seriously in 2014 and deep dived into all the creativeness and technicality that comes with good photography. You’ll often find his photographs in social media and in the news featuring iconic Canberra landscapes and locations. Glenn also has two decades experience in websites & SEO from both a private and government perspective.

Geoff Comfort
Commercial Photography

Geoff is an AIPP Grand Master of Photography (GM. Photog) and won 2018 AIPP Commercial Professional Photographer of the Year. He offers studio and location photography to a wide range of government and corporate clients. Geoff’s main areas of photographic specialisation are Architectural, Aerial, Corporate portraiture & events. And is a photographic educator, together with Ben Kopilow, running Better Photo Workshops.

Kasey Funnell
Commercial Photography

Kasey is an accomplished AIPP Accredited Professional Photographer. She won 2019 AIPP ACT Professional Photographer of the Year and was a finalist in the Commercial category at this years APPAs. Her business crosses numerous genres including family, commercial and video, and she describes all her work as "Authentic imagery, representing the truth". Her style is very well-recognised using simplistic graphical compositions and clean minimalist imagery.
